Updated April 2022. Fresh, exciting, new, creative, innovation, tradition, out of the box, passionate, colorful, dedicated, local, delicious…these are just a few of the words we could use to describe some of the hot and happening restaurants popping up around Nantucket. One of the reasons we love this blog is the fact that we can share with our guests – old and new – friends, and family the amazing places to check out when visiting with us. There are some amazing places so we are going to do a two-part series to tell you about them! We love to support our community and for guests new to the area, these restaurants are places where you will feel at home and be treated like family.
5 Amelia Drive, Nantucket MA, 02554
First up is Keeper’s Restaurant, founded by Nantucket natives Sabrina Dawson and Gaven Norton. Slated to open this month, Keeper’s is sure to become a staple place to visit. Norton and Dawson wanted to run a place that was open year-round and that offered visitors a comfortable and casual atmosphere in which to dine. With a philosophy that “great food and fun times are meant to be shared,” they will be offering at Pair & Share dining option where you can customize your meal by pairing menu selections together and sharing with family-style plating options.
Afterhouse Wine & Raw Bar
18 Broad St., Nantucket, MA 02554
Next is the highly anticipated Afterhouse Wine & Raw Bar, which will be opening to the public late April. This is a sister restaurant to Galley Beach and is a hot spot in the area. With menu choices including shellfish, raw fish preparations, caviars, tinned seafood, vegetarian offerings and charcuterie selections, there will be something delicious to please every palate. Amazing food with an island feel atmosphere will make this place one to check out with your friends and family this spring.
Sandbar at the Jetties
4 Bathing Beach Road, Nantucket, MA 02554
Last but not least is Sandbar at the Jetties, which opens again in May for the season. The passion behind this restaurant belongs to Nick Nassington and George Kelly—two Nantucket natives with many years in the restaurant and bartending world. They wanted to provide a casual, family friendly atmosphere and serve out-of-this-world New England beach fare. There is also a raw bar, live music daily, and the occasional family-style clambakes. This is definitely a hopping place this summer.
