We would like to keep you current with the local Nantucket food scene in our blog and this will include discussing our favorite restaurants along with introducing you to the newest dining establishments for this year. There are some exciting new Nantucket restaurants opening for the 2011 season which you might be interested in knowing about for your next visit with us at the Inn. We’ll talk about some of our favorites in our next blog.

First, let’s mention the Brick Bistro located at the Jared Coffin House on Broad Street, previously occupied by the Harbor Wok. The Brick Bistro, opened by Michael Sturgis who previously owned Cinco on Nantucket, will be “reinterpreting bistro fare with a twist” and will focus on fresh, seasonal, organic ingredients in a warm and sophisticated setting of neutral tones and textures, which reflects Nantucket’s iconic architectural ambiance.
Pazzo, previously known as Sfoglia on Pleasant Street, under new ownership is the latest creation of Marco Coelho who owns the popular Lola 41 on South Beach Street. Their menu will be primarily influenced by Mediterranean flavors and will include wood grill seafood, fresh pastas, artisan breads, pastries and in-house gelato. They plan to offer a lively bar scene as well with an emphasis on service, in an exquisite Mediterranean ambiance.
Ventuno will open May 20th and is the former 21 Federal restaurant located in downtown Nantucket. Ventuno is an Italian inspired creation by the owners of the Straight Wharf restaurant and will be offering local shellfish, fish and hand-cut pasta prepared from an Italian perspective. The ambiance aims to be warm and welcoming, romantic and relaxed in a setting reminiscent of a place where friends and neighbors would gather in the spirit of an Italian “Frasca.”
If these new openings are any indication, the Nantucket restaurant scene looks alive and well for the 2011 season and we can’t wait to experience them ourselves. See you soon!
